The Fall 2012 Soccer Season Starts Anew!
Delaney's Three Lions team is back and rearing to go! They've had a lot of pre-season scrimmages getting back into the swing of things. They had their first tournament, the Pike Fest, this past weekend in Indianapolis. They played really well. Some of the girls, including Delaney, are playing a variety of different positions. It was nice to see them come together and work as a team. They came in second in their grouping: (L) 0-1, (W) 1-0 and (W) 3-1. Delaney even got a couple of great left-footed goals in that last game!
We have a break from soccer this upcoming weekend. Here's to three-day weekends!

Back to School!
Too funny, right? HA! The house has been eerily quiet. I believe it is due to the lack of constant squabbling... definitely one point in school's favor!!!
Delaney's off to her last year in middle school: first day of eighth grade. Hard to believe! She was happy to go see her friends, but she had a pretty resigned attitude to schoolwork itself starting up.
Kyle's off to his first day of fourth grade. He was more excited to go, and I think he's going to have a great year!

Rest of Our Vacation Pictures!
I'm going to share the rest of our Dallas vacation pictures in this post. I'm starting with the Dierks concert in St. Louis under the Arch. We hit the concert on the way down to Dallas, and I should have shared this before the Butterfly Garden pics, but I spaced it. :-)
As you can see, we were literally under the Arch. It was really neat. Kenny went up to ask some of the Fair volunteers where the best places were to sit, and next thing we know, he had somehow got us into the VIP seating section! We had actual seats, right up in the front!
So we had stickers for the VIP seating area, and Delaney had her Meet and Greet sticker too. She was privileged! (I shared her picture w/Dierks in an earlier post.)
She took with her one of my Dierks' shirts; the one that synchs up with her favorite album, Up on the Ridge, and got that one autographed. I guess he asked her how she got that shirt, and she had to confess it was her mothers. :-)
We were concerned that it was going to be unbearably hot, but it actually wasn't that bad. The clouds rolled in and the weather mellowed out a lot. The concert started off great.
After a few songs in, the rain started. Which really wasn't all THAT BAD, it actually helped cool us all off.
The problem was when the lightning started. For everyone's safety, they put the concert on hold... hoping that the storm would move out. Sadly enough, it didn't; and they had to cancel the concert after only about 5 or 6 songs. Disappointing, but what can you do? Safety first!
I found a great picture by Sean Derrick online of the lightning:
And he also had a nice picture of the 200,000 plus crowd:
Dierks said he'll be back St. Louis, so we'll keep watching and maybe catch him again there.
While we were in Texas, we got to eat a lot of great good and go sight seeing. At Billy Bob's, Dee and Ken had fun learning a line dance:
And we went around and found all Dierks' spots throughout (he even signed a hamburger bun, but we didn't get a good picture):
We ate at the Twisted Root Burger Co., which Kenny had seen on the Food Network show (yummmmmmy!).
Kenny went with me to the Closing Banquet at convention, so Delaney snapped a picture of us dressed up.
And while I was busy at convention, Kenny and the kids had a blast just hanging out and having fun:
And the many, many books we brought with us? We really did read quite a lot of them. It was so wonderful to have so much time to read!!!
Kyle got through these three big books:
And Delaney read all of these:
While I read all these:
We had a really nice vacation. It's so hard to believe that school starts in just over two weeks! (* sigh *) SO not ready...
